CranioSacral Therapy (CST)

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle approach to bodywork that can release tension in the central nervous system, by treating the soft tissues and fluid that protect the brain and spinal cord. By delicate and focused freeing of the central nervous system, CST can help to naturally reduce pain, stress, health and well-being. It is a very light-touch treatment option that can be helpful for any aged patient, but because it is so gentle, it is great for treatment of newborns, infants, and children.

Dr. Amanda Armington combines CST and other manual therapy techniques in the treatment of babies for many reasons, but primarily to assist in muscular tension that can present in the mouth, jaw, head, or neck. It has been helpful for birth trauma, lactation or feeding issues, postural challenges and torticollis (neck spasm). Typically during treatment, your child will be relaxed, and sometimes babies even sleep through the entire evaluation! Dr. A works closely with your other care providers such as lactation consultants, pediatricians, and/or body workers, feeling that a team approach can help your child be at their best.

If you have further questions about CST, or treatment of your child, please reach out to the office! We would love to see if CST would be appropriate for your little one(s).
